A Welcome from our Chairman..
The 25th Festival is a landmark for Aberdour. We have chosen the theme of "Our World in One World" to emphasise that the aims of the festival are:-
To that end, we have created what we hope will be a broadly appealing programme of events, which promote one or more of the above aims. To make it special we have booked a larger marquee than we have ever had before on Silver Sands playing field. Events this year include Eddi Reader, Albannach, Dorothy Paul, Henry Sandon of the Antiques Roadshow and the popular ceilidh band Callanish. We finish our big party with Big Vern and the Shootahs. We are pleased to welcome back Jean Redpath in St Fillan's Church and the Gershwin Gang in the grounds of Aberdour Castle. For classical music lovers, we are running a series of three concerts by young musicians from "Live Music Now" in St Fillan's Church. Favourite events, such as the arts weekend are still included, along with many new acts in the halls and hotels in Aberdour; with John Cairney returning to his favourite Fife village for `My Scotland Story' at the Woodside Hotel. The favourite "Village Affair", which provides a showcase for local talent, will also run in the Festival Marquee. Our prime purpose is to provide enjoyment for the village and its many Summer visitors. This year, we also look forward to renewing our friendship with families from Aberdour's twin town of Corte Franca in Northern Italy with an opening Scottish-Italian Gala Evening in the Marquee. Our chosen charity this year is Shelterbox which provides much needed immediate aid in cases of global disasters. In particular we are supporting the efforts of Shelterbox in Burma, as it is one of the few charities that has been given permission by the authorities to enter the country. Our friends from the Rotary Club of Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay, who will be running the bar in the marquee, will also be making a collection in support of this charity. The Committee look forward to your continuing support at this special 25th year. We promise a week long, action packed series of events for all ages - The Raft Race, Donkey Brae 7 and 2 mile runs, village market, many children's events, arts and music workshops. Please put the Festival dates in your diary and book your holidays!

Albannach is Scots-Gaelic for "Scottish" or "Scotsman". That's exactly what they are. All are born and bred in Scotland and their purpose in life is to share their intriguing culture, history and heritage by means of their music. Describing themselves as a Scottish Tribal Band, they are not your traditional Pipes and Drums and bring a new and exciting form of music to the stage. A championship piper, extremely talented main drummer, bass drummers and bodhran musicians bring a brand new approach to percussion and Celtic music. Their style is exciting, energetic and enchanting and they promise to leave you begging for more. Come and be thrilled! You can see them on their own in the afternoon or as a lead in to Eddi Reader in the evening (or both - they're worth listening to twice!!!)

Aberdour Festival is delighted to have booked the fabulous Eddi Reader who, for almost quarter of a century, has been one of Scotland's foremost singing talents. Originally with Fairground Attraction, Eddi has carved out a highly successful solo career and has just released her sixth and most acclaimed album, "Peacetime".
Just before coming to Aberdour, Eddi will be headlining at Glastonbury. Her style ranges from the traditional songs of Burns to the very non- traditional. "I get a sense that it's all just music. It's not traditional or contemporary or singer/songwritery or anything... It's this beautiful wee photograph of people playing this idea on that day." Come and enjoy Eddi's "beautiful wee photographs"!

Once again, in conjunction with the Live Music Now scheme founded by Yehudi Menuhin in 1977, the Aberdour Festival is pleased to bring you three fantastic concerts in the wonderful surroundings and acoustics of St Fillan's Church. First to perform are Sax Ecosse, a quartet of very talented musicians comprising Linsey Payne (Baritone Sax), Karen Dufour (Tenor Sax), Andrew Somerville (Soprano Sax) and Michelle Melvin (Alto Sax). They have recently performed at the 14th World Saxophone Congress in Slovenia, Norway's St Olav's Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Playing a combination of classical music and jazz, they have even performed for that other well known Saxophone player, Bill Clinton! As well as their concert appearances, like all of the other Live Music Now musicians, they also undertake a variety of music educational work. Prepare to be enthralled! Why not come along to the other concerts on Tuesday and Thursday?
, and The Blue Hyenas
Altogether an outstanding evening of Blues. If you woke up this morning and your dog was dead and your woman done gone and left you, this will make you feel sooo much better! Formed in 1992, Baby Isaac set out to reproduce the authentic Chicago Blues of the 1950s. Over the years, this style has evolved to include a notable element of West Coast Swing and Jazz, giving the band a unique and recognisable sound which they named `'Goodtime Blues''. "Laughing In The Face Of The Blues", The Blue Hyenas are a top Edinburgh based blues trio and have been around since the early 90s. Founder member Sandy "Beaches" Tweeddale's powerful vocals and impressive mix of guitar styles gives the Hyenas their unique sound.
A Play in a Day is an exploration, through drama, of a combination of Shakespeare and Fairytales. We will create an original and exciting piece of theatre and then perform it in the evening. The workshops are being run by Natalie, Laura and Fiona from Aberdour Players Youth Theatre. Workshops from 9.30am, lunch at 12pm, workshops and rehearsals 12.45-5.00pm. Performance at 6.30pm. Participants are to come wearing comfortable black tops and leggings or trousers. Bring a packed lunch. Consent forms required.
